Pacific's new head women's soccer coach is a familiar name.
After graduating from Pacific in 2016, Kellan McNamara spent the last seven seasons (2017-23) serving as an assistant coach for the Boxer men's soccer team. As a Pacific player from 2012-15, McNamara was named a team captain and most inspirational for the 2015 season.
"I could not be more excited for the opportunity," McNamara said. "Pacific University is everything to me. To receive the opportunity to serve as head coach of the women's soccer program is a dream come true. I cannot wait to get started and dedicate myself to this group of young women."
McNamara takes over for
Chelsea Davis, who went 9-22-7 overall and 5-20-7 in the Northwest Conference, over two seasons.
"Having had the opportunity to play for Pacific and serve as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program previously, I understand the challenges and demands that lay ahead and am eager to build the best possible version of the Pacific women's soccer program alongside my assistant coaches and our student-athletes," McNamara said. "Pacific is a special place. The academic and athletic opportunities, the location and campus truly make it the ideal place for our student-athletes to take those pivotal steps towards becoming who they truly want to be in the world.
"Being in a position to help young people get the most out of their experience as Boxer student-athletes is the ultimate privilege. I look forward to building a culture centered around the love for the game, dedication to the team, and a relentless drive for all of our players and coaches to be the best versions of themselves. Looking forward to getting on the field."
McNamara, originally from Missoula, Montana, has also served as a head coach with Oregon Premier FC for the last six years and was previously the player development program coordinator with Willamette United.
"We are excited to welcome Coach McNamara back to Pacific," Pacific Athletic Director Keith Buckley said. "His passion for soccer and this university was palpable during the process, and I look forward to the continued development of Boxer Soccer under his leadership."
