Pacific closed the Oregon Trail Classic with a convincing 3-0 sweep of Pacific Union Sunday morning.
Holding on to a 16-14 lead, the Boxers used a 7-0 run to win the first set 25-18. After dominating the second set 25-13, Pacific cruised to a 25-12 victory in the third set to complete the sweep.
Sophomore outside hitter
Emma Velchek, who was named to the Oregon Trail Classic All-Tournament Team, had 15 kills and eight digs to lead the Boxers.
Senior
Maya Deferme finished with 29 assists and five kills. Senior
Danica Nelson recorded 15 digs and four aces.
Pacific 3, Multnomah 0
The Boxers opened the Oregon Trail Classic Friday morning in the Stoller Center with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 win over Multnomah.
Velchek again led Pacific with 14 kills. Senior
Mara Murphy recorded 13 kills.
Deferme finished with 25 assists and six kills.
Victoria Patnaude added four blocks.
Kayla Craft contributed seven kills and three blocks.
Mary Hardin-Baylor 3, Pacific 0
The Boxers started strong, taking a 10-3 lead in the first set. But Mary Hardin-Baylor rallied to tie the set at 20-20 before ultimately winning 25-23.
The Cru then took the second set 25-19 and the third 25-23 to sweep Pacific Friday night inside the Stoller Center.
Velcheck had nine kills in the loss. Craft and Murphy recorded eight and seven kills, respectively.
Patnaude and
Anneke Hanson both had five blocks.
Danica Nelson finished with 15 digs.
Bushnell 3, Pacific 0
MCMINNVILLE -- The Boxers fell behind 15-5 at Linfield and never recovered. Bushnell won 25-22, 25-14, 25-18 to sweep Pacific 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
Velcheck recorded 10 kills in the loss.
Next, Pacific plays in the Leopard Invitational in La Verne, Calif. on Friday, Sept. 6.
