The Pacific volleyball team swept NAIA Warner Pacific 3-0 Wednesday night inside the Stoller Center.
The Boxers, who improved to 5-1 in their last six matches, got off to a dominant start, racing out to an 18-6 lead in the first set.Â
After finishing off the Knights 25-14 in the first set, Pacific found itself in a battle in the second. Tied 22-22, the Boxers went on a 3-0 run to win 25-22 and take a 2-0 lead.
The third set was just as tight. Tied 13-13, Pacific went on a 5-0 run to take an 18-13 lead. After Warner Pacific answered with a 4-0 run, the Boxers won four of the next five points to hold on to a 22-18 lead. After the Knights got within 23-21, Pacific senior
Mara Murphy recorded two kills to finish off Warner Pacific 25-22.Â
Murphy finished with 11 kills and 11 digs. Senior
Kayla Craft had nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Emma Velchek recorded 10 kills and nine digs.Â
The Boxers had nine aces in the three sets. Senior
Danica Nelson had 18 digs and four aces. Sophomore Rorie Frais finished with 23 assists and three aces.
Next: Pacific plays at George Fox (5-6, 1-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Boxers are back in the Stoller Center on Friday, Oct. 4 against Pacific Lutheran.Â
