ORANGE, Calif. -- Pacific's 2024 season opener was not short on highlights, including an 85-yard fumble recovery touchdown by senior
Zion Booker to get the Boxers within five points entering the fourth quarter.
But the highlight reel ended there as Chapman answered with two fourth quarter touchdowns to hand Pacific a 43-23 loss Saturday night.
Junior
Brody Bantolina, who led the Northwest Conference in rushing last season, put on a show in the first half, scoring on touchdown runs of 31 and 62 yards to tie the game at 14-14 with 6:43 remaining in the second quarter.
Tyler Leick, who was 2-for-3 on extra points, made a 27-yard field goal with 44 seconds remaining to get the Boxers within 21-17 at halftime.
Bantolina finished with 155 yards on 16 carries and also had two receptions for 13 yards.
Quarterback
Braeden Titus completed 15 of 31 passes for 153 yards and three interceptions. He was also sacked four times.
Junior
Josiah Chaffin had six receptions for 57 yards.
Pacific's defense allowed 531 yards of total offense, including 375 through the air.
Junior
Nehemiah Faleulu led the unit with seven total tackles and a sack. Junior
Rylan Ma'ae had six tackles, including two for loss. Sophomore
Anthony Lopez recorded four tackles and an interception.
