TACOMA, Wash. -- The Pacific volleyball team could not slow down first-place Puget Sound.
The Loggers won 3-0 Friday night to improve to 5-0 in the Northwest Conference.
After Puget Sound dominated the first set 25-9, the Boxers showed some fight in the second set. Pacific led 10-8 before the Loggers went on a 6-1 run to take the lead for good. An ace by
Kayla-Jane Padayao got the Boxers within 19-20. But Puget Sound outscored Pacific 5-2 down the stretch to take the set 25-21.
The Boxers continued to battle in the third set, but never led before falling 25-19.
Junior
Emma Velchek had eight kills to lead Pacific's attack. Junior
McKenzie Uyehara posted seven digs and two aces.
With the loss, the Boxers dropped to 1-4 in conference play.
Next: Pacific plays at Pacific Lutheran (4-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
