Pacific opened the 2025 Northwest Conference Baseball Tournament Thursday with a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory over Linfield.
Tied 4-4 with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning,
Matt Gibbs scored the game-winning run on an RBI single to left field by
Vincent Lagatta.
Freshman pitcher
Nicholas Saelens got the start for the Boxers, holding Linfield to seven hits and three earned runs over 7 2/3 innings.Â
Senior
William Merriott earned the win in relief, pitching the final 1 1/3 innings.Â
At the plate, Gibbs went 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI.
Hunter Nishina was 3-for-5 with a run.
Benjamin Lewis went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
The Boxers advance to play Puget Sound Friday at 1 p.m. in the winner's bracket. Linfield will take on Whitworth at 10 a.m. in an elimination game.Â
