Pacific volleyball coach
Rachel Renville earned the first collegiate win of her career in dramatic fashion Saturday as the Boxers rallied to defeat Warner Pacific 3-2 at home inside the Stoller Center.
After dropping the opening set of the season, 25-23, Pacific trailed 24-21 before answering with a 3-0 run to tie the second set 24-24. The Knights had two more shots at set point, leading 25-24 and 26-25. However, the Boxers scored three straight points to win the second set 28-26.
Down 2-1 in the match after Warner Pacific captured the third set 25-21, Pacific responded by playing its best volleyball of the match. The Boxers dominated the fourth set, 25-15, to send the match to a deciding fifth set.
Tied 10-10, Pacific scored three straight points and held on for a 15-12 victory.
The Boxers 68 combined kills came from eight different players.
Chloe Hefner led Pacific's attack with 15 kills.
Hannah Carlson added 14 kills.
Kayla-Jane Padayao led the Boxers with 30 assists and seven digs.
Alyssa Cargill recorded 27 digs and seven assists.
Pacific had 11 aces in the victory.
