The Pacific volleyball team came up short in its Northwest Conference opener Tuesday night, falling 3-0 to visiting Linfield.
After dropping the first set 13-25, the Boxers were more competitive in the second. Pacific got within 16-17 before the Wildcats closed on an 8-2 run to take the second set 25-19.
Linfield raced out to a 15-7 lead in the third set and held on 25-19 to win the match.
The Boxers struggled offensively throughout the night, finishing with a .010 hitting percentage.

Emma Velchek had eight kills, three aces and eight digs to lead the effort. Sophomore
Kayla-Jane Padayao recorded 14 assists.Â
Next: The Boxers will look to bounce back on the road Friday when they travel to face Whitworth in Spokane, Wash. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
