PORTLAND --Â A dramatic late goal from senior
Adam Landy lifted the Pacific men's soccer team to a 2-1 Northwest Conference victory over Lewis & Clark Sunday afternoon.
Tied 1-1, Landy fired a shot off the hands of the Pioneer goalkeeper that bounded just inside the far post to give the Boxers the lead with just 24 seconds remaining.
The goal was Landy's second game-winner of the season after he scored in the 56th minute of a 1-0 victory over Linfield on Sept. 12.Â
After a quiet first half, the Boxers struck first in the 59th minute when freshman
Cole Affolter broke the deadlock with the first goal of his college career. The Pioneers responded quickly, leveling the match just three minutes later.
Pacific outshot Lewis & Clark 14-9, with a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
Noah Gosch kept the Pioneer defense busy with three attempts, while Affolter and Landy each registered multiple shots.
In goal, Pacific freshman Kobi Miyamoto turned away two shots to earn the victory.
With the win, the Boxers improved to 2-2-1 in conference play.
Next: Pacific plays at Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, Oct. 4.
