FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific men's soccer built a two-goal lead early in the second half but couldn't hold off a Linfield rally, settling for a 3-3 Northwest Conference draw Friday at Hanson Stadium.
Nico Lomanto scored in the 49th minute to give the Boxers a 3-1 advantage, finishing a cross from Caden Matsumoto. However, Linfield answered with two goals in a 10-minute span to pull even in the 72nd minute.
After Linfield opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Pacific took control in the closing minutes of the first half when Cole Affolter converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute to tie the match before scoring again in the 34th minute off an assist from Lomanto.Â
The Boxers finished with a 16-12 advantage in shots, including an 8-8 tie in shots on goal. Pacific goalkeeper Kobi Miyamoto made five saves.Â
Pacific moved to 2-3-5 overall and 2-1-5 in conference play.
Next: The Boxers return to action Sunday, traveling to George Fox for a noon kickoff in Newberg.
