The Pacific baseball team earned a much-need Northwest Conference victory Sunday afternoon, defeating Pacific Lutheran 6-4 to avoid a series sweep and break a seven-game losing streak.
Trailing 4-2 through five innings, the Boxers had to rally.
Javin Hamura doubled to right field with one out in the bottom of the sixth and scored on an RBI single to center field by
Will Shelor to get Pacific within a run at 4-3.
The Boxers added three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Miles Bergman led off the inning with a single to center and then scored the tying run on an RBI double to left field by
Benjamin Lewis.
Matthew Pavao put Pacific ahead 5-4 with an RBI single to left field.
Max Finkelstein also had an RBI single in the frame to extend the lead to 6-4.
Lewis finished 3-for-4 with two doubles in the win. Shelor was also 3-for-4 at the plate. The Boxers had 14 hits.
Pitching in relief,
Adam Kim earned the win.
Trent Nagamine shut out the Lutes over the final 1 2/3 innings to get the save.
With the victory, Pacific improved to 3-6 in conference play.
Next: The Boxers play a three-game series at Whitworth on March 28-29.
