In his final college at-bat, Pacific senior
Miles Bergman hit a walk-off RBI double to left field as the Boxers celebrated a 2-1 victory over Whittier Saturday to close out the 2026 baseball season.
Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the eighth,
Matthew Pavao delivered a pinch-hit RBI double to center field to score
Alex Laureano and tie the game at 1-1. Junior
Gannon McGeen led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a pinch-hit single and scored the game-winning run on Bergman's double.
The Poets left 13 runners on base, including the bases loaded in the first, second and 10th innings.
Pacific sophomore
Nicholas Saelens pitched nine innings, allowing five hits and one run with nine strikeouts. Sophomore
Koen Mizukami pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn his first career win.
Junior
Trevor Kazahaya was 2-for-4 with a double in the win.Â
Before the game, Pacific paid tribute to baseball alum Chase Anderson, who in November died of cancer. Anderson, who led the Boxers to the Northwest Conference Championship in 2021, was voted NWC Player of the Year and All-West Region Player of the Year. He is Top 10 All-Time at Pacific in career runs scored (128), hits (147), triples (10), total bases (227), on-base percentage (.459), walks (114) and stolen bases (45).
Pacific finished the 2026 season with a 17-23 overall record.
