FOREST GROVE, Ore. – With less than 30 seconds remaining, the Pacific men's soccer team found a way to salvage a Northwest Conference draw.
Trailing 2-1 late in Sunday's match, Pacific goalkeeper Kobi Miyamoto fired a ball toward the Willamette goal, where Trenton Zimmermann's header found the back of the net, sending the Boxers to a 2-2 draw at Hanson Stadium.
Miyamoto made two saves in the first six minutes of the game, including stopping a Willamette penalty kick.
Pacific took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Nico Lomanto scored his third goal of the season off an assist from Afsheen Alijani. The Boxers carried the advantage until the 60th minute, when Miyamoto made his third save of the game, but the Bearcats scored the equalizer on the rebound. Willamette then took its first lead of the afternoon in the 88th minute.
Pacific finished with a 9-6 advantage in shots, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. The Boxers also earned three corner kicks.
