Boxers start conference play with 3-0 loss at Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific volleyball team opened Northwest Conference play Tuesday night with a 3-0 loss at Lewis & Clark.
 
The River Otters, who had lost 36 straight conference matches, set the tone early, jumping out to a 12-4 lead in the first set on their way to a 25-17 victory.
 
The second set was more competitive, at least early. Tied 8-8, Lewis & Clark went on a 5-0 run to take control. Pacific got within 20-17 before the River Otters scored five of the final six points to take a 2-0 match lead.
 
The Boxers took their first lead of the night in the third set and held a 4-2 advantage. But Lewis & Clark responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead for good and put Pacific away 25-17.
 
The Boxers hit just .009 over the three sets and gave up 12 aces to Lewis & Clark. 

Freshmen Makenna Ennes and Isabelle Darnell led Pacific with six kills apiece, while senior Emma Velchek added five kills. Sophomore Callie Turner recorded 12 assists, while junior Kayla-Jane Padayao added seven. Senior McKenzie Uyehara led the Boxers with 13 digs.
