TACOMA, Wash. – Pacific Lutheran's offense proved too much for the Pacific volleyball team Saturday night.
The Lutes hit .394 as a team and defeated the Boxers 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-15) in Northwest Conference play.
Pacific Lutheran jumped out to a quick lead in the opening set, hitting .552 with 16 kills and no errors. The Lutes carried that momentum into the second set, hitting .357 while Pacific struggled to a -.081 hitting percentage. Pacific showed some improvement offensively in the third set, recording seven kills against three errors, but Pacific Lutheran closed out the match by hitting .297.
Emma Velchek and Quinn Freitag led the Boxers with six kills apiece. McKenzie Uyehara recorded two service aces and Kira Fujimoto led Pacific with 11 digs. Kayla-Jane Padayao had a team-high nine assists, with Callie Turner adding eight.
The loss dropped Pacific to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in NWC play.
