FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Elizabeth Brisson gave Pacific an early lead, and Jadyn Ayano added an insurance goal early in the second half as the Boxers held off Whitworth 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
Brisson put Pacific ahead in the 24th minute with her third goal of the season.
The Boxers doubled their advantage just 2:10 into the second half when Ayano scored her first goal of the season, with Taite Taniguchi providing the assist. Whitworth answered in the 56th minute to cut the Pacific lead to 2-1.
The Pirates had opportunities to equalize, but Madeleine Gomez made three saves in the second half to preserve the Pacific victory. Pacific finished with a 14-10 advantage in shots and earned nine corner kicks to Whitworth's two. The Boxers put seven shots on goal, while Whitworth had five.
Pacific improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Northwest Conference play.
