James Yen

James Yen is in his third season as Pacific’s wide receivers coach after spending a decade as both a player and coach with Division III power Linfield.
 
Yen’s experience has continued the forward progression in the passing game.  In 2013, Pacific was ranked 55th among Division III teams in passing offense while ranking 33rd in scoring offense, scoring 34.6 yards per game.  Under Yen’s leadership, Jordan Fukumoto was named to the All-Northwest Conference First Team.
 
In addition to his coaching duties, Yen serves as the program’s video coordinator.
 
Prior to his arrival in Forest Grove, Yen spent nine seasons working with wide receivers at Linfield, coaching numerous players to All-NWC and All-American honors.  During the Wildcats’ 2004 national championship season, Yen helped coach Casey Allen and George Carter to All-American honors, with Allen receiving first team honors from D3Football.com.
 
In addition to his football duties, Yen served in Spring 2012 as Linfield’s head women’s golf coach.  Before his work with Linfield golf, Yen served as the head soccer coach at Amity High School.
 
Yen played his college football at Linfield, earning a varsity letter in 2002 at wide receiver. A native of Honolulu, Yen was a multiple letterwinner at the Kamehameha Schools in football, soccer and track and field.
 
Yen, 33, graduated from Linfield in 2002 with a degree in applied physics.  He earned his master’s degree in sports administration/management from American Public University in 2013.
