Paul Gonzales enters his second season as Pacific’s defensive backs coach. He also serves as the program’s equipment manager.
Gonzales followed Keith Buckley to Pacific from UC Davis, where spent two seasons as an administrative assistant for the defensive coaches and a film coordinator. During the 2009 season, Gonzales was part of a UC Davis coaching staff that went 6-5, the team’s first winning season since becoming a Division I-FCS program.
Prior to his work at UC Davis, Gonzales spent one season as the quarterbacks coach at Pioneer High School in Woodland, Calif.
Gonzales spent four years as an athlete at UC Davis, excelling on the baseball field as a pitcher. He compiled a 5-6 record as a reliever with a 6.33 earned run average. He was a five-time letterwinner in baseball and football at Bellarmine College Prep High School in San Jose, Calif.
A native of San Jose, Gonzales graduated from UC Davis in 2007 with degrees in psychology and communication.
