Fresh off a four-year playing career at Pacific Lutheran, Tyler Bowen is in his second season with Pacific football as tight ends coach.
Bowen was a four-year letterwinner (2008-2011) for the Lutes, playing wide receiver under Scott Westering. Bowen made 45 catches in his career, racking up 500 yard and three touchdowns. He made 14 catches in his senior season, averaging 16.1 yards per catch and scoring two touchdowns.
As a prep athlete, Bowen was a three-time football letterwinner for Rogers High School in Puyallup, Wash. He was named the South Puget Sound League’s Defensive Back of the Year in 2007 while also earning first team honors as a wide receiver. The Tacoma News Tribune named Bowen to their all-area second team as a defensive back and he earned a spot in Washington’s East-West All-Star Game.
In addition to his work on the football field, Bowen was a two-year letterwinner in baseball where he played second base, shortstop and the outfield.
A native of Puyallup, Bowen graduated from PLU in 2012 with a degree in history and minors in political science and religion. His father, Gene, is the head football coach at Rogers High School. In addition to his Pacific duties, Bowen is also the head junior varsity baseball coach at Forest Grove High School.
