Emily Sproul made her fourth appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. In the fall, Serena Wallace became the second Boxer to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship after earning all-region and first team all-Northwest Conference honors. Wallace went on to be named the Pacific University Female Student-Athlete of the Year and a 2018-19 First Team Northwest Conference Scholar-Athlete.

In his first two years, he coached Stephenie Spencer to two NCAA Cross Country National Championship appearances and saw Boxers javelin throwers Mackenzie Huddleston and Emily Sproul not only qualify for the national championships, but earn All-American status.

Prior to coming to Pacific he was head coach in both cross country and track and field at Defiance College (OH) and was the track and field boss at San Francisco State. He coached at both places with his wife (Randi) who is a former track and field All-American for Western Oregon where she is currently the compliance director and senior woman administrator.

Lydum's coaching experience also includes being an active clinician for USA Track and Field for many years and has been the director of the Youth Level 2 program since 2010.
