Pacific University Athletics

- Star athlete for Pacific in Football, Wrestling, Track & Field, Gymnastics and Boxing
- Led Pacific to a 1903 State Collegiate Track Championship and earned the majority of Pacific's points in Sprints & Pole Vault
- Was named by the Oregonian as "The Best Quarterback to be Found in Oregon"
- Held the World Record for Pull-Ups while at Pacific 
- After transferring to Yale, set World Record in Pole Vault 
- Won 1908 Olympic Gold Medal in the Pole Vault
- His use of bamboo pole and inserting the pole into a hole in the ground was predecessor to modern Pole Vault poles & Vaulting Box
