CLAREMONT, Calif. – Dan Flora (Jr., North Bend, Ore.) and Joe Deardorff (Jr., Independence, Ore.) raced their way to all-region selections Saturday as the two harriers led the Pacific cross country teams at the NCAA Division III West Region Championship, held on the campus on Pomona and Pitzer colleges.

Flora put together a very strong race to earn Pacific's top men's individual placing since 2006.  He covered the 8,000-meter grass and dirt course in a time of 26:12.6, his second best time of the season.  Deardorff came through equally as strong, finishing in 30th place with his second best time of the season of 26:22.7.

The pair paced the Pacific men to a 10th place finish out of 18 teams, the Boxers best team finish in the regional meet since 2002, with a score of 285 points.

Jilinda Franklin (Jr., Fort Jones, Calif.)  turned in a lifetime best and her first sub-24 minute time to lead Pacific's efforts in the women's race.  Franklin placed 72nd, covering the 6,000-meter course in a time 23:59.0.  It is the second sub-24 minute time run by a Pacific runner this season, bettered only by Rachel Schreiber's (Fr., Longmont, Calif.) time at the Oct. 29 Northwest Conference Championships.  Schreiber saw her effectiveness limited in the regional by a nagging leg injury.

Kiersten Iwai (So., San Diego, Calif.) also added a personal best to finish as the Boxers' No. 2 running, finishing 89th in a time of 24:31.6.  The efforts led Pacific to a 18th place team finish out of 20 squads with a total of 501 points.

Jerry Sanchez (Jr., Mecca, Calif.) was the Boxers' No. 3 men's runner, placing 54th in a time of 26:57.7.  John Gillem (Sr., Prineville, Ore.) closed out his career with an 83rd place time of 27:47.48, while Wes Porter (Jr., Elk Grove, Calif.) was 96th in a time of 28:26.0.  John Cushman (Sr., Lakewood, Wash.), also running in his final Pacific cross country race, finished 101st in a time of 28:39.4.

Caitlyn Reilley (Fr., Reedsport, Ore.) finished a very good freshman season as Pacific's No. 3 runner in the women's race, placing 110th in 25:11.6.  Schreiber was two places behind with a time of 25:17.0 while Ally Shackelford (So., Portland, Ore.) rounded out the Pacific contingent with a time of 26:05.5, good enough for 118th place.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who ran the equivalent of a home meet, repeated as women's regional team champions, scoring 39 points.  The Athenas were well ahead of second place Willamette, who compiled 131 points.  Both teams have earned automatic berths to the NCAA Division III National Championships.  Pomona-Pitzer's Annie Lydens won the individual title with a time of 21:26.1.  Lewis & Clark's Illana Livstrom was runner-up with a time of 21:33.0.

Colorado College and Occidental earned the two men's automatic team berths to the national meet with both teams scoring 76 points.  Colorado College's Jackson Brainerd won the individual title with a time of 24:53.4.  Willamette's Leo Castillo was the conference's top individual placer, finishing fourth in a time of 25:09.7.
