FOREST GROVE – Alex Bing* (Fr., Roseburg, Ore.) and Michael Hargitt* (Fr., Oregon City, Ore.) each played a role in four records to lead the Boxers in their Northwest Conference swimming dual opener with Whitworth Friday night at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center.

Bing won the women's 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.68.  That was more than enough to break the previous record of 1:12.88 set by Allison Clark in 2010.  Bing also joined Cherice Cochrane (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.), Nicole Koch (So., Longmont, Colo.) and Keely Craig (Fr., Federal Way, Wash.) in breaking the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:57.29.  That bettered the previous mark of 1:59.96 set back in 2008.

Hargitt, meanwhile, captured his second individual record of the season by finishing in a close second in the men's 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:15.28.  That effort surpassed the previous record of 4:21.61 set by Joe Nannini in 2005.  Hargitt also joined Joel Cowley (Jr., Portland, Ore.), Alejandro Contreras (Sr., Silverton, Ore.) and Scott Kimura (Sr., McMinnville, Ore.) in breaking the 200-yard medley relay record in a time of 1:43.00.  That surpassed the previous mark of 3:44.99 set in 2010.

The fast swims, however, were not enough to compete in the team race against a loaded Whitworth squad.  The Pirates took the men's team race by final of 155-47, while the women won by a score of 142-62.

The Pacific women had the only other win of the evening in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of Bing, Kelli Kronsberg (Fr., North Bend, Ore.), Craig and Cochrane won in a time of 1:44.67.

Korey Kinney and Aaron Vaccaro each had two victories to pace Whitworth on the men's side.  Kinney won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:20.56 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:52.36.  Vaccaro won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.42 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 51.81 seconds.  He also swam the third leg on the Pirates' winning 200-yard medley relay team, which swam 1:39.19.

Jennifer Bencon and Abby Pavelko each won two events to lead the Whitworth women.  Benson won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.29 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.70.  In addition she swam anchor on the Pirates' winning 200-yard medley relay team.  Pavelko won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:43.93 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:15.59.

Pacific returns to the pool on Saturday when they host Whitman in a NWC dual at 1 p.m.  Whitworth will swim at Lewis & Clark.
