Boxers Come Up Short Against Lutes

TACOMA, Wash.- Allison Clark (So., Keizer, Ore.) and Laura Ross (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) led the Boxers with three and two wins, respectively, as the women fell 108-97 to Pacific Lutheran. Michael Simmonds (Fr., Sweet Home, Ore.), Michael Hargitt* (Fr., Oregon City, Ore.) and Alejandro Contreras (Sr., Silverton, Ore.) paced the men, who fell 122-81 to the Lutes.

Clark led the women winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.50 and the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:53.73, nearly 17 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She also finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.58. Ross added two first place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.81 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:33.12.

The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Nicole Koch (So., Longmont, Colo.), Kelli Kronsberg (Fr., Bend, Ore.), Keely Craig (Fr., Federal Way, Wash.) and Cherice Cochrane (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) collected first in a time of 1:47.83.

Craig and Cochrane also added a second place finishes for Pacific Craig in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.77 and 100-yard freestyle in 57.22 and Cochrane in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.49. Freshmen Bonnie Rose Carroll (Eugene, Ore.) and Alex Bing* (Roseburg, Ore.) also contributed a second place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:25.11 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.51.

On the men's side, Simmonds won the 1000-yard freestyle finishing in a time of 10:37.85. Hargitt won the 400-yard individual medley by 15 seconds, in a time of 4:26.41. He also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.30. Contreras picked up the men's final first place in the 100-yard butterfly finishing in 57.19.

Dylan Cramer (So., Caldwell, Idaho) added a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.37 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:07.48. Also finishing in second were Scott Kimura (Sr., McMinnville, Ore.) in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 52.00 and Joel Cowley (Jr., Portland, Ore.) in the 100-yard backstroke in 55.60.

The Boxers will return home next weekend to play host to the College of Idaho. The dual will start at 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
