Pacific Swimmers Continue Winning Streak

McMINNVILLE, Ore.—The Pacific swimmers defeated Linfield, 129-72 on the women's side and 121-64 on the men's, and picked up their fourth straight dual win. The women won nine events and the men won eight.
The women started the day winning the 400-yard medley relay with the team of Cherice Cochrane (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.), Alex Bing* (Fr., Roseburg, Ore.), Nicole Koch (So., Longmont, Colo.) and Keely Craig (Fr., Federal Way, Wash.) in a time of 4:19.73. Cochrane and Craig each returned to the pool to win individual events later in the meet. Cochrane won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.10 and Craig won the 100-yard freestyle in 58.28. Craig was later joined by Bing, Kelli Kronsberg (Fr., Bend, Ore.) and Allison Clark (So., Keizer, Ore.) in the winning 400-yard freestyle team, which finished in 3:52.69.
Clark also contributed two individual wins in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:17.85 and 200-yard breaststroke in 2:31.13. Bonnie Rose Carroll (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) and Laura Ross (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) were the other individual event winners for the Boxers. Carroll won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:28.80 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:21.17. Ross won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:19.21.
The men also started by winning the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:52.44 with the team of Joel Cowley (Jr., Portland, Ore.), Luke Fuller (Sr., Lake Oswego, Ore.), Alejandro Contreras (Sr., Silverton, Ore.) and Ben Griffin (Sr., Tacoma, Wash.). Cowley also contributed an individual win in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.15, over ten seconds faster than the second place finisher.
Griffin was joined in the last race of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, by Scott Kimura (Sr., McMinnville, Ore.), Damian Plancarte (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M.) and Michael Simmonds (Fr., Sweet Home, Ore.), who won the event in 3:27.98.
Other individual wins for Pacific came from Simmonds, Dylan Cramer (So., Caldwell, Idaho) and Michael Hargitt* (Fr., Oregon City, Ore.). Simmonds won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:45.46. Cramer won the 200 and 500-yard freestyle in times of 1:50.04 and 5:07.63, respectively. Hargitt won the 200-yard individual medley, by 11 seconds, finishing in a time of 2:02.77 and returned to the pool to win the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:19.22.
Pacific will return to the pool for the final dual of the season at Lewis & Clark next Saturday with a scheduled start of 1 p.m.
