CARVER, Ore. –
Dan Flora (Jr., North Bend, Ore.) ran the best race of his collegiate career Saturday, breaking out with a sub-27 minute performance to lead a pair of strong Pacific team performances at the Lewis & Clark Cross Country Invitational, held at Milo McIver State Park.
Flora rolled to a 12th place finish, covering the men's 8,000-meter course in 26:48. The performance moves the North Bend High School graduate into the No. 23 spot on Pacific's all-time best list at the distance. In all, the Pacific men placed four in the top-20 to finish third out of six teams in the meet with 75 points.
The Pacific women finished in fifth place out of five teams competing with a total of 123 points, but saw four of their runners move up their spots on the Pacific all-time best list at 6,000 meters. Pacific was a bit limited on the women's side with only five athletes able to participate in quality workouts during the week.
“It was a good day for us,” said Pacific Head Coach Tim Boyce. “To have four of our women run lifetime bests for 6,000 meters and Dan's breakthrough race made for a solid outing.”
Joe Deardorff (Jr., Independence, Ore.) placed 17th for the Boxers in the men's race, running 27:16. Teammate
Jerry Sanchez (Jr., Mecca, Calif.) was one place behind in 18th place with a time of 27:17.
John Gillem (Sr., Prineville, Ore.) placed 24th with a time of 27:32 while
John Cushman (Sr., Lakewood, Wash.) rounded out Pacific's scoring five with a time of 27:58.

Jilinda Franklin (Jr., Fort Jones, Calif.) finished in 22nd with a time of 24:30. That allowed Franklin to move up to No. 14 on the all-time list.
Ally Shackelford (So., Portland, Ore.) placed 27th with a time of 24:47, which moved her into No. 16 on the all-time list.
Caitlyn Reilley (Fr., Reedsport, Ore.) finished 34th in the race, moving into the No. 22 on the all-time list with her time of 25:16.
Kiersten Iwai (So., San Diego, Calif.) rounded out Pacific's scoring five, placing 41st in a time of 26:04.
Concordia (Ore.) finished three points off of a perfect score to take men's team honors with 18 points. Cordero Cisneros, running unattached, was the individual champion with a time of 25:11.
