LAKEWOOD, Wash. – 
Jilinda Franklin (Jr., Fort Jones, Calif.) and newcomer 
Rachel Schreiber (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) posted a pair of top-five individual finishes Saturday, leading the Pacific women's cross country team to the team title at the Puget Sound Invitational, held at Ft. Steilacoom Park.
Franklin posted a personal best over the 6,000-meter distance, finishing third with a time of 24:25, moving her to No. 12 on Pacific's all-time list.  Schreiber came across in fifth place with a time of 24:52, debuting with the Boxers' 13th best all-time performance.  The pair of front-runners along with a ninth place finish by 
Ally Shackelford (So., Portland, Ore.), the Boxers compiled 41 points to finish 11 points ahead of second place Pacific Lutheran.
The Pacific men had a strong showing as well, finishing in second place in the team standings with a score of 51 points.  
Joe Deardorff (Jr., Independence, Ore.) finished in seventh place to lead the Boxers, running the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:23.  Newcomer 
Jerry Sanchez (Jr., Mecca, Calif.) was five seconds behind, placing eighth in 27:27.
“This was an encouraging start for both teams with some excellent Boxers' debuts,” said Pacific Head Coach Tim Boyce.  “We have strong efforts from Jilinda and Joe to lead us.  We are very pleased and the teams are eager to keep training hard and continue to prepare for the meets ahead.”
Shackelford ran a strong race to cross the finish line in 25:17.  
Caitlyn Reilley (Fr., Reedsport, Ore.) placed 11th in a time of 25:20 and 
Punneh Abdolhosseini (So., Seattle, Wash.) rounded out the scoring five in 17th with a time of 25:58.
Dan Flora (Jr., North Bend, Ore.) finished in 11th place for the Pacific men, timing out at 27:47.  
John Cushman (Sr., Lakewood, Wash.), running in his hometown, placed 13th with a time of 27:57.  
John Gillem (Sr., Prineville, Ore.) rounded out the scoring by placing 18th in a time of 28:24.
Division II St. Martin's won the men's race with a score of 26 points.  The Saints' Spencer Hunt won the men's race in a time of 25:26.  Joscelyn Minton took top individual honors for St. Martin's in the women's race, winning in a time of 24:02.
Pacific returns to action next Saturday, returning to the Willamette Valley for the Lewis & Clark Invitational.  The meet will be held at McIver State Park in Carver.
