PULLMAN, Wash. — The Pacific University men's basketball team tipped off the 2015-16 season on Friday night with an exhibition loss at Washington State, 97-70.

The Cougars led from start to finish in the game played at Bohler Gym on Flashback Friday. The game was contested in WSU's old arena to honor legendary coach George Raveling.

Washington State scored the first two buckets of the game but Pacific pulled to within one point on Joseph's three-pointer just a little over two minutes into the contest (6-5). But a pair of Cougar runs, one 9-0 and another 8-0, put the Cougars ahead for good.

WSU led by as many as 27 points in the first half before two Ahern treys cut to the deficit to 21 points. The Cougars led 53-30 at the break, led by Renard Suggs 16 points. Pacific hit five of 14 three-point attempts in the first 20 minutes.

The two teams played fairly evenly in the second half. Suggs finished with 18 points to lead all scorers and fellow Cougar Vionte Daniels added 16.
