Walker Olis (Jr., Burlington, Wash.) and
Donnie Bradley (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) each had two hits for Pacific in first year head coach
Brian Billings' home opener Saturday, but George Fox used hefty offensive firepower to sweep the Northwest Conference baseball doubleheader from the Boxers at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.
Â
The Bruins broken open a pitcher's duel with two runs in the seventh and scored all five of their runs in the final three innings to take the 5-1 victory in the opener. An error with one out in the fifth inning opened the floodgates for the Bruins in game two as they scored nine runs in the frame en route to the 12-1 victory.
Â
Zach Rapacz did much of the damage for George Fox with five hits in the two games, which included a 3 for 5 performance in the nightcap. With the win, George Fox improved to 4-5, 2-0 NWC. Pacific dropped to 1-4, 0-2 NWC.

The two teams will finish their three-game series on Sunday at noon. Live stats and video will be available at GoBoxers.com.

GAME 1: GEORGE FOX 5, PACIFIC 1The first five innings of the contest shaped up as a pitcher's duel between Pacific starter
Kyle Treadway (Sr., Phoenix, Ore.) and George Fox's Ian Buckles. Treadway allowed two hits through the first four innings while Buckles did not allow a hit until the fifth inning.
Â
Treadway got out of the fifth scoreless thanks to the arm of Olis. Brandon Wileman's long single to right appeared to be enough to score Tyler Hamilton from second, but Olis' throw was on line to catcher
Mike Thomson (Jr., Yorba Linda, Calif.) for the third out of the inning.
Â
George Fox broke the 0-0 deadlock in the seventh, turning an error into two runs. Jake Thran drew a leadoff walk before pinch-runner Eli Skiles advanced to second on Riley McKean's sacrifice and went to third when Kadyn Nannini reached on an error. Skiles opened scoring on Tyler Hamilton's single through the right side and Nannini scored on Gabe Louthan's sacrifice squeeze.
Â
Tanner Mansell (Jr., Tualatin, Ore.) put Pacific on the board on the home half of the seventh when he singled to center field with one out, stole second and scored on Olis' single to left.
Â
The Bruins added two more runs in the eighth, once again capitalizing on Pacific errors. Clay Mott drew a leadoff walk, Rapacz followed with a bunt single and both runners moved up 90 feet on a throwing error. Jacob Woehler followed with a single that scored Mott and Rapacz later scored when a throw to try and pick off AJ Valencia at first was high. George Fox added one in the ninth when Hamilton led off with a single and scored on a wild pitch.
Â
Buckles went the distance to improve to 2-1 on the year, allowing one run on six hits with three strikeouts. Treadway dropped to 1-1 with the loss, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Hamilton went 3 for 4 with a run and a RBI to lead the Bruins while Olis went 2 for 4 to pace the Boxers.
Â
GAME 2: GEORGE FOX 12, PACIFIC 1Rapacz scored early and often to lead the Boxers in the second game, going 3 for 5 with three runs and four RBIs. All of his hits brought in runs, which included two in the fifth inning alone.
Â
After seeing the opener go scoreless for six innings, George Fox took early control with single runs in the first and third. Rapacz reached in the first with two outs when an error on his ground ball to third base put him at second. He then scored on Ansel Webster's single to center field. He then gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead when he hit his second home run of the season, which just cleared the left field fence.
Â
It was Rapacz who opened scoring in the fifth as the Bruins broke the game open with the nine-run frame. Brandon Wileman and Clay Mott each singled with one out and both scored on Rapacz's single to center field. A single by Webster and an error loaded the bases and Nannini started the rout in earnest with his bases-clearing double off the base of the left field fence. Valencia and Mott followed with RBI singles before Rapacz followed with his fourth hit of the game, a single to left that scored Valencia.
Â
Pacific used an error to score what would be their only run of the game. Mansell reached on the error to lead off the inning and later scored on a ground out by Olis. George Fox took the run back in the top of the eighth as Blake Christopher led off with a single and scored on a single by pinch-hitter Zachery Muenster.
Â
Sean Eberhart earned his first win of the season for George Fox, allowing one unearned run on five hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in six innings.Â
Colin McCusker (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) took his second loss of the season for the Boxers, allowing nine runs, four earned, on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. All five Pacific hits came from five different players.
