Â
Vidovic paired with
Carlee Rhodaback (Jr., Albany, Ore.) for the Boxers' lone win in singles, scoring an 8-4 victory at No. 2 over Vinci Chen and Grace Yao. She then picked up a solid victory in singles, knocking off Sophia Chen 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 1 flight to improve to 8-1 on the season.

The two losses in doubles provide critical, however, as it allowed the Beavers the edge going into singles for the team victory. Caltech, ranked No. 12 in the latest ITA West Regional rankings, improved to 4-5, while Pacific dropped to 3-6.
Â
"It was a tough-fought match in the southern California heat," said Pacific Assistant Coach
Karen Wells. "The ladies battled hard, but fell just short of the win. We had a lot of good matches."
Â
In doubles, Sophia Chen and Erin Wang opened the day with an 8-2 win over Kaitlyn Lomatire (So., Portland, Ore.) and
Mai Kobayashi (Fr., Waikoloa, Hawaii). The tandem of Rachel Morton and Sarah Antilla gave Caltech the 2-1 lead with an 8-6 win over
Sidney Smith (Fr., Olympia, Wash.) and
Kanani Kea (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) at No. 3.
Â
Lomartire opened singles by tying the team competition, blanking Vinci Chen in the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 7-2 on the season. Wang gave the Beavers the lead again with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Smith at No. 3 before Vidovic claimed her win at No. 1 to tie the team score at 3-3. Yao put the Beavers back on top with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kobayshi at No. 4 while Kea tied it back up at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Antilla.
