FOREST GROVE – The Pacific softball team picked up a doubleheader split on Tuesday afternoon with Corban as the Boxers took game one 8-5, before falling 9-4 in the second game to the Warriors.

Marissa Reichard (Jr., Forest Grove, Ore.) finished the opener with three hits and a RBI at the plate, while also striking out seven batters in the pitching circle.
Jessica Hotaling (Jr., Oregon City, Ore.) was 2-3 at the plate with one run scored and also drove in a run as the Boxers fell in game two.

The Boxers continue a short non-conference stretch tomorrow at Northwest Christian, with a 2 p.m. scheduled start in Eugene, Ore.

Game One: Pacific 8, Corban 5Five Boxers finished with multiple hits in the opening game, including a 2-3 day at the plate by
Kylee Yamamoto (Jr., Mililani, Hawaii), who also drove two runs in.

The Boxers scored the games opening run in the first when Hotaling started the Pacific offense off with a one-out single down the left field line. A single through the right side from
Ashley Mitchell (Jr., Redmond, Wash.) moved Hatling to third, where the Boxers' designated player would score on a single by
Kylee Oshiro (Sr., Aiea, Hawaii).

Pacific tacked on another run in the second when
Rachel Roberts (Jr., Oregon City, Ore.) reached on a fielders choice and advanced to second on an error that allowed Hotaling to reach first. A two-out single through the left side by Mitchell scored Roberts from second.

The Warriors responded with four runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead over the Boxers heading into the bottom of the third inning.

Margaret Bachmeier (So., Newberg, Ore.) singled with one out, then advanced to second on a bunt single by
Kaitlyn Shikada (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii). Reichard followed the Shikada with a single to load the bases, before
Jordan Schmerbauch (So., Mililani, Hawaii) reached on a fielders choice that also allowed Bachmeier to score.

A fifth Corban run, which came in the top of the fourth inning, was followed by a big inning from the Boxers that was started by a one-out double to right center by Mitchell. Following an Oshiro walk, Yamamoto singled through the left side and advanced to second on the throw as Oshiro scampered to third and Mitchell scored. A throwing error allowed Bachmeier to reach safely as Oshirio scored and Yamamoto reached third.

Another Pacific run came when Shikada singled to center and plated Yamamoto. Pacific tallied its fourth and final run of the inning as Bachmeier scored on a single up the middle by Reichard.

The Boxers added one final run in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-5 lead when Hotaling bunted her way onto first before reaching second and scoring on a two-out single by Yamamoto.

Reichard was perfect over the final three runs of the inning as she finished the opener with seven strikeouts, one walk and one earned run scored against her.

Game Two: Corban 9, Pacific 4Hotaling and Reichard both finished with two hits as the Boxers fell 9-4 in the second game to the Warriors.

A three-run homer helped propel Corban to four runs in the first inning, before the Warriors added a fifth run in the top of the third.

Pacific's offense got rolling in the bottom of the third when Reichard opened the frame with a single through the right side, a ground out pushed Reichard to second. With one out and Reichard on second, Hotaling singled to right center to score Reichard. Hotaling would soon score as Oshiro doubled to left with two outs, pulling Pacific within three of the Warriors.

A scoreless fourth inning was followed by a one-run effort from Corban, when the Warriors pushed a run across against Pacific reliever
Allie Sims (So., Puyallup, Wash.).

The Boxers answered in the bottom of the fifth when a one-out fielding error allowed Roberts to reach base safely. Mitchell singled down the left field line with two outs, allowing Roberts to race to third. With Mitchell at second, after advancing on a throw, and Roberts on third, Pacific added two more runs when Oshiro reached first on a dropped third strike. As Oshiro neared first, the throw from the catcher was wild allowing Oshiro to reach safely and for Roberts and Mitchell to score.

Corban scored three additional runs in the seventh before pulling away with a 9-4 win after a double-play stopped Pacific's momentum at the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
