MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Six Boxers finished with multiple goals on the day as Pacific eased to an 18-3 road victory over Linfield at the Linfield Lacrosse Field on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Pacific scored early and often against the Wildcats as
April Lanz (So., Oregon City, Ore.) fed
Meg Chapman (So., Woodinville, Wash.) for the games first goal and Chapman's second of the season with only 22 seconds run off the game clock. Another Pacific goal came within the minute as Lanz netted her sixth of the season after Chapman forced a Linfield turnover.
Â
Amy Mayhugh (Sr., Tigard, Ore.) joined in on the scoring with 27:36 left in the first half before
Abby Talboy (Jr., Boise, Idaho) opened her 2015 account with a goal off an assist from Mayhugh with 26:04 on the clock. Talboy's opener would eventually prove to be the game winning goal on the day.
Â
Another Boxer scored their first goal of the season at 23:18 as
Brittney Bardin (So., Albany, Ore.) beat Linfield goalkeeper Erika Phillipo and found the back of the cage.
Nicki Leeming (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) collected a pass from Talboy and converted the chance for her first goal of the day, less than three minutes before Talboy would score her second of the game to give Pacific a 7-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game.
Â
The Boxers run reached eight-straight goals at the 15:20 mark when Lanz and Chapman hooked up for the second time as Chapman scored her second goal of game.
Â
After the Boxers pulled out of a free position opportunity without a scoring chance, Linfield scored for the first time as Halle Helgerson set the scoreline to 8-1. Pacific responded two minutes later when
Mahea Wong (Jr., Lake Stevens, Wash.) put herself in the scoring column for the first time this season.
Â
Lanz continued her strong start to the season after Wong's goal with back-to-back tallies of her own. Leeming posted her second goal of the half with 7:06 remaining the period, only to see Lanz complete the Texas hat trick with her fourth goal and final goal of the game. Lanz's fourth goal of the first half gave Pacific a 13-1 lead, before Kelsey Dammerell of Linfield scored with five seconds left in the half to send the team to the break with a 13-2 Pacific advantage.
Â
Although Lanz finished her scoring in the opening half, she continued to dish out assists in the second half as she set
Kara Smouse (Jr., Portland, Ore.) up for her fourth goal of the year with 27:29 left in regulation.
Â
The scoring slowed until the 13:54 mark when Rebecca Kropp tallied the third and final Wildcat goal.
Â
The Boxers added four more goals to the scoring column in the final eight minutes as Chapman, Mayhugh, Leeming and Wong all scored for Pacific.
Â
Mayhugh led Pacific on the draw with seven controlled draws, while Wong finished with three draw controls and a team-high three caused turnovers.
Â
Lanz impressed in multiple statistical categories with four goals, three assists and four draw controls. Chapman and Leeming both finished with hat trick performances, while Mayhugh, Wong and Talboy each finished the day with a pair of goals.
Â
Pacific head's into non-conference play on March 10, with an out-of-region game with Saint Mary's College of Indiana. First draw between the Boxers and Belles is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Hanson Stadium.
