Nate Montgomery (Jr., Sherwood, Ore.) Tuesday night as Pacific held off a late innings rally by Corban to beat the Warriors 4-3 in baseball action at Volcanoes Stadium.

Montgomery went six innings to improve to 2-1 on the season, allowing one run on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts.Â
Tyler Kotchik (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) came in in the ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

The Boxers (16-18) did most of their offensive damage with one out in the top of the second inning.Â
Donnie Bradley (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) and
Tanner Mansell (Jr., Tualatin, Ore.) hit back-to-back infield singles and
Austin Gallagher (Sr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) followed with a double down the right field line that scored both.Â
Ryan Sohn (Jr., Ventura, Calif.) scored Gallagher on a single up the middle.

Corban (21-24) took one run back in the third inning as Ben Straka led off with a bunt single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nic Coffman. Neither team scored again until the seventh when Corban made it a 3-2 game on Ryan Rosaas' single up the middle that scored Jon Mercer.

Pacific picked up what proved to be a critical run in the top of the ninth as Corban reliever Daniel Gober gave up four walks, including a bases loaded pass to
Wyatt Moore (Fr., Riverside, Calif.) that scored
Walker Olis (Jr., Burlington, Wash.). The Warriors' ninth inning rally opened with Stockton Taylor's one-out homer to left field. Marc Gallegos then reached on a two-base error and moved to third on a ground out before Kotchik coaxed Peter Martin into a fly out to end the game.

Joey McCabe took his first loss of the season for Corban, allowing three runs on four hits with a strikeout in two innings of work. Mansell and Bradley each went 2 for 3 to lead Pacific at the plate while Rosas and Benjamin Liodon has two hits apiece to pace Corban.

Pacific will close out the Northwest Conference portion of its schedule on the road. The Boxers travel to Walla Walla for a three-game series at Whitman on Saturday and Sunday.
