Game 2 Box ScoreWALLA WALLA, Wash. – A pitcher's dual in the opener gave away to a come-from-behind effort for Pacific in the nightcap on Saturday as the Boxers swept both games of their Northwest Conference baseball doubleheader with Whitman at Borleske Stadium.

Kyle Treadway (Sr., Phoenix, Ore.) came one out away from a complete game victory in the opener, going 8.2 strong innings to ride out a 1-0 victory. Pacific then neutralized a six-run third inning in the second game with a six-run inning of their own in the sixth before adding single runs in the eighth and ninth to come back for the 9-7 win.

Tanner Mansell (Jr., Lakeport, Calif.) led the way for the Boxers offensively, finishing with five hits and two runs. He went 3 for 5 in the second game.Â
Matt Hopp (Sr., Portland, Ore.) and
Nathan Suyematsu (Jr., Tualatin, Ore.) each had four hits in the two games.Â
Tyler Kotchik (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) closed out both games for his seventh and eighth saves of the season, setting a Pacific single season record.

With the victories, Pacific evened their overall record to 18-18 and improved to 11-12 in NWC play. Whitman dropped to 6-27, 5-18 NWC. The two teams will conclude the three-game series on Sunday at noon.

GAME 1: PACIFIC 1, WHITMAN 0Treadway proved solid in earning his fifth win of the season, allowing eight hits and one walk while striking out three in 8.2 innings of work. While allowing eight hits, Treadway and the Pacific defense allowed just two runners past second base.

Robert Maislin, meanwhile, proved just as solid in his start for the Missionaries, allowing one unearned run on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. Maislin did not allow a runner past first base until the sixth inning. In that frame, Suyematsu singled with one out and advanced to second when the throw for the potential put out went wide of the bag.Â
Donnie Bradley (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) brought Suyematsu home with a two-out single to center field.

Whitman's best chance to tie the game came in the bottom of the ninth. Nick Johnson led off with a single to left field and moved to second on MacLean Harned's sacrifice bunt. Peter Carmichael grounded out to Treadway before he was lifted for Kotchik, who put out pinch-hitter Tristan Cates for his seventh save of the year.

Suyematsu and Mansell each had two hits to lead Pacific. Jonny Chow went 3 for 4 to pace Whitman.

GAME 2: PACIFIC 9, WHITMAN 7Pacific used a two-hit second inning to score the game first run early. Mansell started things with a one-out single to center field, stole second and scored on a single to left center field by
Danny Yazzolino (So., Portland, Ore.).

Whitman roared back in the third to blister the Boxers for six runs in an inning where the Missionaries cobbled out eight hits and sent 13 batters to the plate. The first three batters hit singles, with Braden Hussey's infield single scoring Harned. Two batters later, Anthony Lim added a double to left center that scored Carmichael and Vela followed with a single that scored Hussey. Paul Heywood followed with a RBI single, Joseph Zimmer added a RBI double and John Lyon closed the frame with a RBI single.

The Missionaries added one more run in the fourth inning as Jonny Chow led off with a single and scored on a single to center field by Heywood.

Pacific did not fold, however, coming to life with a six-run inning of their own in the sixth to tie the game. Mansell led off with a single, stole second and scored on
Austin Gallagher's (Sr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) single to center field. Singles by Yazzolino and
Ryan Sohn (Jr., Ventura, Calif.) loaded the bases and
Ben Duerr (Jr., Lebanon, Ore.) was hit by a pitch to bring home the second run.

Hopp made it a 7-5 game when his long single to center field scored Yazzolino and Sohn. Two batters later,
Walker Olis (Jr., Burlington, Wash.) singled up the middle, scoring Hopp and Duerr and tying the game.

Suyematsu accounted for the winning run in the eighth inning, reaching on a one-out single and scoring when Olis struck out and reached on a two-base throwing error.Â
Mike Thomson (Jr., Yorba Linda, Calif.) added an insurance run in the ninth when he singled to right field and scored on a wild pitch.

Joey Angyus (Fr., Portland, Ore.) picked up his second win of the season for the Boxers in relief, allowing four hits and a walk in 4.2 innings of works. Kotchik came on in the ninth for his eighth save of the season. Steven Ainsworth took the loss for Whitman, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with a walk and a strikeout in the final three innings.

Hopp led Pacific at the plate, going 3 for 5 with two RBIs, while Mansell went 3 for 5 with two runs scored. Lim, Vela, Heywood and Harned each had two hits to lead Whitman.
