Cross Country teams perform well at George Fox Classic
BROOKS, Ore. -- The Boxer cross country teams competed at the Wes Cook/George Fox Classic meet on Saturday and gained important experience on the course that will host the Northwest Conference Championships in two weeks. The men finished 11
th of 13 teams with a score of 319 while the women were 6
th out of 9 teams with 114 points. The course was wet and muddy which made times slower than normal.
The men had a nice pack for most of the race and the top four runners finished within 22.4 seconds of each other.Â
Kaleb Bass (Slate Creek, Idaho) was the first runner for the first time in his Pacific career as he was 64
th in a time of 28:19.7.Â
Nick Slenning (Portland, Ore.) finished just behind Bass in 65
th with a time of 28:22.4.Â
Kyle Eisenbeis (Bothell, Wash.) had his best race of the year in 70
th with a time of 28:38.6.Â
Luke Davis (Gresham, Ore.) ran a personal best of 28:44.1 while finishing 73
rd.Â
Logan Naegeli (Trout Creek, Mont.) rounded out the team scoring in 92
nd with a time of 29:47.4.Â
Nick Ungermann (Westlake Village, Calif.) also ran a personal best with a time of 31:48.2.
The women ran very well in the front of the field.Â
Stephenie Spencer (Bothell, Wash.) ran in second for almost the entire race and finished there with a time of 22:33.9.Â
Serena Wallace (Centralia, Wash.) and
Jess Knoll (Arlee, Mont.) both ran personal bests of 23:21.5 and 23:51.3 respectively while finishing 12
th and 16
th. Elaine Gillespie (Nampa, Idaho) and
Sophia O'Neal (Dixon, Calif.) finished the scoring while finishing right together in 47
th and 48
th with times of 25:41.5 and 25:42.0.Â
Airel Farley (Glide, Ore.) also set a personal best of 27:25.4.
The Boxers will return to Willamette Mission State Park on Saturday, October 29 for the Northwest Conference Championships. The men will race at 10:00 with the women following at 11:00.
