McMINNVILLE, Ore. — After 109 action packed minutes, a dramatic goal from
Ikaika Urasaki in the 110th minute earned Pacific a 3-2 victory on the road at Linfield on Saturday afternoon.
Urasaki (Kaneohe, Hawaii) tallied his second goal of the season as he scored from roughly five yards out, just less than 30 seconds from the end of the first overtime period.
The scoring got started early in McMinnville as Pacific's
Peter Vizzoni (Snohomish, Wash.) nodded in a header off a cross from
Eamonn Hartmann (Portland, Ore.) in the sixth minute.
The Boxers' lead evaporated a few minutes later as Brian DeGrandmont put Linfield on the board in the ninth minute of play. DeGrandmont completed his brace in the 16th minute as he scored off an assist from Islas Flores.
After spending halftime down 2-1 to the Wildcats, the Boxers looked to even the match in the 48th on a penalty kick try. Linfield's Jorge Rodriguez guessed correctly in goal as he stopped Pacific's penalty try and kept the game in the Wildcats' favor.
The game tying goal eventually came for Pacific in the 68th minute, but came in an unconventional way as Linfield netted an own goal to even the match at 2-2.
Pacific goalkeeper
Leyton Thommasen (Des Moines, Wash.) made his biggest save of the match in the 81st minute when he saved a penalty try from DeGrandmont and kept the Linfield goal scorer from compelting a hat trick.
DeGrandmont found himself at the center of a pivotal moment in the match early in the overtime period when he was issued his second yellow card of the match and was sent off with a red card.
The Boxers pounced on the Wildcats after the red card, with
Matt Kimball (Tigard, Ore.) firing off a shot in the 96th minute. Having subbed into the match in the 99th minute, Urasaki didn't take any time to get adjusted to the pace of the match as he found himself with the ball at his feet inside the 18-yard box before scoring his second game winner of the season in the 100th minute.
Pacific finishes up the weekend with a scheduled 2:30 p.m. kickoff in Forest Grove against Willamette on Sunday.
