WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Sophomores
Adina Goodwin and
Emily Thompson both opened their 2016 scoring accounts on Sunday in a 4-2 loss to Whitman at the Whitman Athletic Fields.
After surrendering four goals in the opening 35 minutes of play, the Boxerswent on the attack early in the second half.
The Boxers fired off three shots in the first six minutes of the second period, including a shot off the crossbar by senior
Holly Chang-Northway (Eugene, Ore.) in the 50th minute.
Pacific continued to push forward as the second half moved on, and finally unlocked the Whitman defense in the 79th minute as Chang-Northway assisted on Goodwin's (Tualatin, Ore.) header goal. The goal by Goodwin was the first of her career.
Roughly five minutes after Goodwin found the back of the net, Thompson (Orange County, Calif.) tallied her first goal of the season and third of her career.
Lena de Guzman, Pagan Hetherington, Chelsea Day and Kristin Brady were all goal scorers for Whitman.
The Boxers next take the field in Newberg on Saturday, when Pacific and George Fox are set for a noon kickoff.
