FOREST GROVE — The Pacific women's basketball team closed out the month of November with a 70-46 loss to Oregon Tech in the Stoller Center on Sunday, despite 18 points from
Sarah Curl and six blocked shots on the day as a team.
After a quick five-point run by the Owls in the opening three minute, Curl (Portland, Ore.) scored the first points of the game for Pacific on a 3-pointer with 7:23 left in the first quarter. Curl's make started a 10-point swing for the Boxers before the Owls were forced to call a timeout with 5:29 on the clock, with Pacific up 10-5.
The Owls answered the Boxers run with a 17-0 run to close out the period, heading to the break with a 22-10 advantage.
Oregon Tech rattled off the first four points of the second period before Pacific stopped the 21-0 run at 7:52 in the second quarter. Oregon Tech's lead reached as few as 13 points in the second period and as many as 18 before the half expired. Oregon Tech headed to the locker room at halftime with a 39-21 lead.
The Boxers were unable to catch-up after the 15-minute break with Curl scoring all six of Pacific's points in the third period and the Owls lead extending to 59-27 entering the final period.
Pacific battled in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 20 points at the 2:55 mark before time eventually expired on a 70-46 Owls victory.
Curl led Pacific with 18 points and five rebounds, while also snagging four steals and blocking four three shots.
Merrily Jones (Milwaukie, Ore.) finished the day with eight points. Curl and
Nikki Gilbert (East Wenatchee, Wash.) both finished the afternoon with two assists.
Pacific next heads into Northwest Conference play with the conference opener set for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Friday at No. 6/8 George Fox.
