A 21-4 run to start the game by host George Fox led the Bruins to a 89-51 win over Pacific University in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams.
The nationally-ranked Bruins, who improve to 6-0, landed three in double figures. George Fox made seven of their first 10 shots en route to shooting 53.1% for the win. George Fox was led by Kaitlin Jamieson, who had a game-high 18 points. Tavin Headings and Kaylin Collman added 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Pacific (2-3, 0-1 NWC) senior
Sarah Curl (Portland, Ore.) scored in double figures for a fifth-straight game to lead the Boxers with 13 points. It is also the fifth-straight game that Curl has been the top scorer for Pacific. Freshman
Merrily Jones (Milwaukie, Ore.) scored 12 points for her highest effort in her young career.
Despite the defeat, Pacific shot at a 48.9% clip from the field for its highest effort from the field since a 59.3% effort against Lewis & Clark on Feb. 7, 2015. The Boxers made 66.7% (8-for-12) of its efforts in the third and followed that up with a 53.8% (7-for-13) effort in the fourth quarter.
Next, Pacific will return to the Stoller Center on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. for its final home game of 2016 and a seven-game road trip.
