McMINNVILLE, Ore. — Host Linfield exploded for 26 third quarter points to pull away from Pacific in a women's basketball game at Ted Wilson Gymnasium on Friday night, 77-56.
The victory gives the Wildcats a Northwest Conference season sweep over the Boxers. With one game left in the season, the Wildcats improve to 13-11 overall and to 6-9 in conference. Pacific falls to 10-14 on the year and to 5-10 in NWC play.
The 'Cats broke open a one-point game (32-31) with 8:30 left in the third quarter with a 12-0 run over the next four minutes to quickly pull away. From a 29-26 halftime margin, the Wildcats led for good at the end of the third quarter with a 55-38 lead. They outscored their visitors 26-12 in the ten minute period.
A bright spot for the Boxers was junior forward
Sarah Curl's three-pointer in the fourth quarter that gave her 1,000 career points. She finished with 15 points on the night.
Karli McHone led the Boxers with 19 points, hitting 6-of-8 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range and 4-of-5 from the free throw line.
Quincey Gibson had a double-double for Linfield with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Dani Krier also had 16 points for the Wildcats.
Pacific wraps up the 2015-16 season on Saturday night at Lewis & Clark. Start time is 4 p.m.
