ResultsFOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Pacific women's tennis team ran the table in doubles and won five of six singles matches to capture an 8-1 Northwest Conference win over Puget Sound on Saturday afternoon on the indoor courts of the Holce Tennis Complex.
The Boxers improved to 3-3 overall and in conference play, while the Loggers dropped to 0-9 on the season and to 0-6 in the NWC.
Pacific ran through doubles in pretty quick fashion.
Kaitlyn Lomartire and
Chantelle Baclay won at No. 1 (8-2),
Marissa Hayashi and
Mai Kobayashi triumphed on court two (8-3) and
Carlee Rhodaback and
Kanani Kea took care of business at No. 3 doubles (8-2).
In singles play, Lomartire won easily on court one (6-1, 6-1), Kea did the same at No. 3 (6-3, 6-0), as did Hayashi at four (6-4, 6-2) and Rhodaback at No. 5 (6-3, 6-4). Baclay hooked up in a battle with UPS's Nicole Bouche at No. 2, going three sets before prevailing 5-7, 6-2, 10-2. Pacific's lone loss came at No. 6 in another barn burner, with
Danielle Wicks falling by just two shots to Mei Roen, 3-6, 7-5, 11-9.
The Boxers will return to the Holce Tennis Complex on Sunday, taking on No. 20 nationally ranked Lewis & Clark, start time is noon.
