Tigers ambush Boxers, 15-4

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Visiting Occidental College scored eight unanswered goals to overcome an early deficit to cruise past Pacific University in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium, 15-4.

The Tigers improved to 5-4 on the season, while Pacific dropped its second straight to fall to 5-3.

Pacific opened the scoring against the Los Angeles-based squad with a pair of quick goals by April Lanz. The junior scored just two minutes into the action, off an assist from Paisley Hiefield, and then added another goal just 40 seconds later to make it 2-0, Boxers.

But the Tigers took control of the game shortly after that and never relinquished it. Six different players would play a scoring part in that 8-0 run, with Rebecca Reese and Mackenzie Wright tallying scores twice. Pacific would stop the bleeding momentarily with back-to-back goals by Jasmyne Adame early in the second half to make it 8-4, but the Tigers returned to the scoring column just two minutes later and proceeded to close out the match with seven consecutive goals.

Reese paced Occidental with four goals and Sierra Slack added three scores. Slack also had three assists. Lanz and Adame led Pacific with the two goals each, and Lanz also had an assist.

The Boxers will have a week to work on getting back on track, hosting Whitman on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m at Hanson Stadium.
