Boxers blast Whitman, 19-6

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Pacific's Jordyn Godfrey had a school record nine goals and Paisley Hiefield added four assists to help lead the Boxers to a 19-6 pasting of Whitman in Saturday afternoon women's lacrosse action at Hanson Stadium.

Pacific improved to 6-3 on the season with the victory and moved to 3-1 in Northwest Conference play (second place). The Missionaries are now 1-8 overall and 1-2 in league action.

Godfrey broke the school record for most goals in a game, previously held by Lilia Le vs. Dallas in 2009 with eight. She came up one point shy of the single game mark for points in a game (10), held by Le in that same 2009 match.

Hiefield, who also added four goals, equaled the school record for assists with her four, now accomplished eight different times in the Pacific record books, including by current assistant coach and former Boxer standout Kelly Stevens. She also had six draw controls.

Those records were the last thing on anyone's mind early, when the two squads were locked up at 1-1 over 12 minutes into the match. Godfrey had scored her first goal at 21:34, but was countered by Whitman's Sarah Myers at 19:08.

Pacific then found the net seven unanswered times over the next eight and a half minutes to make the count 8-1 and take over the match. The Boxers led 10-2 at the halftime break. Godfrey had five of her goals before intermission.

The hosts outscored the visitors 9-4 in the second half as six different Boxers scored. Nicki Leeming and Brittney Bardin had two goals apiece.

Next action for the Boxers is a week from today (April 9) at Linfield. Start time is 11 a.m.
