Boxers roll in NWC opener, 19-4

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The first step in defending any conference crown is to win your first league game of the season.

Mission accomplished for the Pacific lacrosse team as they opened 2016 Northwest Conference play with a convincing 19-4 win over Linfield on Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium. With the victory, the Boxers move to 3-0 on the season. It was the first game of the year for the Wildlcats.

Meg Chapman scored twice in the first 3:20 of the game as the Boxers led from start to finish. The junior would go on to score four goals in the contest and add two assists. Teammate Jordyn Godfrey had four goals and three assists for the unbeaten Boxers, who were the 2015 NWC champs with a 14-2 overall record and a 8-0 mark in conference play.

Nine different players scored for Pacific, including the following with two scores each: April Lanz, Nicki Leeming, Mahea Wong and Jasmyne Adame. Kaitlin Ellis went the distance as the goalkeeper, earning the win with three saves.
