ResultsSALEM, Ore. — The Pacific women's tennis team made quick and efficient work of Willamette on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the Bearcats 9-0 in Northwest Conference action at the Courthouse Tennis Center in Salem.
The Boxers moved to 2-3 overall and they have the same record in NWC play. The Bearcats are 0-5 in both sets of standings.
Kaitlyn Lomartire and
Danielle du Plooy got things started with an 8-0 win on the No. 1 doubles courts, followed by similar results at court two and three with the teams of
Mai Kobayashi/
Chantelle Baclay (8-2) and
Kanani Kea/
Marissa Hayashi (8-1).
Singles play then began with Lomartire rolling at No. 1 (6-3, 6-0), du Plooy improving to 5-2 on the year at No. 2 (6-2, 6-0), and Kea moving to 6-4 in singles at No. 3 (6-1, 6-2).
Hayashi won at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-4),
Carlee Rhodaback picked up her first win of the year at No. 5 (6-2, 6-3) and freshman
Chealsey Rosebrook won her first collegiate match at six singles, 6-2, 6-3.
The Boxer women will return home for Saturday and Sunday matches at the Holce Tennis Complex, hosting Puget Sound (March 12) at 1 p.m. and No. 20 nationally ranked Lewis & Clark on Sunday (March 13) at noon.
