The men's soccer team opened their season Thursday evening with a 1-0 overtime win over Northwest University at Hanson Stadium. The Eagles were whistled for a handball in the box 7:43 into overtime leading to a spot kick for the Boxers.Â
Matt Kimball, a First Team All-NWC player last year, stepped up and converted to the keeper's right as he dove left. Pacific is now 1-0 overall while Northwest dropped to 3-1.

The teams had gone scoreless in the 90 minutes of regulation with neither team generating many scoring chances. Northwest only outshot Pacific 9-7, but four of their shots were on frame compared to two for the Boxers. Leyton Thomasson recorded four saves for his first shutout of the season. Pacific led Northwest 7-3 in corner kicks and did not allow the Eagles a corner after the first half.
