SHERMAN, Texas – The trio of
Tiare Kaopua,
Morgan Mendicino and
Karlee Duncan paced Pacific's attack in a pair of victories at the Austin College Classic, with the Boxers picking up three-set victories over Sul Ross State and McMurry on Friday.

Pacific improved to 3-1 on the season, opening the day with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 win over Sul Ross State. The Boxers hit .309 as a team against the Lobos, including an impressive .419 clip in the third set.

Kaopua (Nanakuli, Hawaii), a senior, led the Boxers with 14 kills including six in the third set. Mendicino (San Diego, Calif.) finished the first match with a .563 attacking percentage, as the sophomore put away 11 kills. Senior
Jamie Steach (Pasco, Wash.) recorded 37 assists against Sul Ross State.

On the defensive side, senior
Lia Zablan (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) and freshman
Mackenzie Brown (Klamath Falls, Ore.) finished with double digit digs, with Zablan finishing with 17 and Brown with 10.

The Boxers' second match of the day saw Duncan (Bend, Ore.), a freshman, led the attack with 13 kills. Duncan and the Boxers topped the War Hawks 25-22, 25-18 and 25-21.

The Boxers utilized a seven point run in the opening set, including three kills by Duncan.

Duncan's 13 kills was followed by Kaopua's 10, while Steach added 26 assists to her daily total. Zablan totaled 15 digs against McMurry and was joined in double digits with by junior
Karissa Komo (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii).

The Boxers trip to Texas wraps up on Saturday with matches against Texas-Tyler and Mary Hardin-Baylor.
