Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Boxers fall to Puget Sound, 1-0

In the 87th minute, the visiting Loggers of Puget Sound ended a scoreless tie to rally for a 1-0 win over the Pacific University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon.

The Boxers (4-3-1, 2-2 NWC) and Loggers (7-1, 4-0 NWC) were entrenched in a scoreless battle for most of the contest.

Pacific senior Holly Chang-Northway (Eugene, Ore.) had a chance to put the Boxers on the scoreboard in the 78th minute when her shot was blocked by the Loggers' defense. Nearly a minute later, she had an attempt that was saved by Loggers' goalkeeper Lauren Thomas. Pacific goalkeeper Kailey Hifumi (Mililani, Hawaii) had five saves in the loss.

Puget Sound countered the attack by the Boxers with a series of shots, including a header by Emma Donckels that went over the goal in the 83rd minute. Then, Grayson Williams-Krebs ended the 0-0 contest with a shot in the far post in the 87th minute for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Thomas closed out the contest with two saves for the shutout.

Next up for Pacific is a matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. against Linfield at Hanson Stadium to wrap up a four-game homestand.
