A balanced attack for the Pacific University volleyball team led the visiting Boxers to a 25-22, 25-19, 28-26 win over host Linfield on Wednesday in McMinnville.
The win for the Boxers is its 15
th on the season which is the most in the NCAA era for Pacific, eclipsing the mark of 14 set by the 2016 and 2007 squads. Pacific improves to 15-6 overall and 8-5 in the Northwest Conference.
Boxers' junior
Morgan Mendicino (San Diego, Calif.) and freshman
Jordan Zweifel (Tillamook, Ore.) recorded 14 and nine kills, respectively to lead a Pacific squad, who hit .164 in the win. Plus, junior
Ellie Parker (Beaverton, Ore.) recorded a double double with 32 assists and 17 digs and junior
Anna VanderWeyst (Lacey, Wash.) added 17 digs.
Linfield was led by Darian Stedman, who had a team-high 13 kills to lead the Wildcats, who fall to 9-11 overall and 3-10 in the Northwest Conference. Setter Mattie Kelly had a double double for the Wildcats with 14 assists and 10 digs.
Pacific had five service aces in the win including the match-clinching point on a service by Mendicino. Zweifel had a hand on five blocks, plus sophomores
Bailey Servoss (Mount Vernon, Wash.) and
Milana Ivkovic (Beaverton, Ore.) each had four block assists. The Boxers had nine team blocks compared to just two for the Wildcats.
Next, Pacific takes to the road to face Pacific Lutheran on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. Earlier this season, the Lutes posted a 20-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22 win over the Boxers on Sept. 29 in Forest Grove.
