Boxers earn first cleansheet of 2017 season

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — A day after a four-combined goal draw at Willamette, the Pacific women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw on Sunday against Linfield at Ledbetter Field at Hanson Stadium.

The opening half saw two good scoring chances for the Boxers (0-14-4, 0-11-3 NWC) with freshman Bella Jackson (Seattle, Wash.) having her shot saved in the 20th minute and junior Kira Negrete (Lakewood, Calif.) saw her 34th minute chance turned away by Linfield (8-8-2, 6-6-2 NWC) goalkeeper Madi Reimer.

The second period saw both goalkeeper record a save, including a late stop by Pacific senior goalkeeper Ariela Bali (Aiea, Hawaii) in the 82nd minute on a header from Sydney Kuehn.

The first overtime period saw no shots on frame, but the second period of overtime saw Bali make a pair of saves to hold the score at 0-0.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... The Boxers made a defensive team save in the 110th minute off a shot by Linfield's Jamie Mars.

STAT OF THE GAME... Pacific's cleansheet was the first of the season for the Boxers.

NEXT UP... Pacific opens the final weekend of the season with a noon kickoff at home against Lewis & Clark on November 4.
